Journalist Diego Courchay on Time and the Creative Process

Mexican journalist Diego Courchay (UTV (2018 Robert L. Breen Fellow) is now an associate editor for the Delacorte Review, a joint project of the Columbia School of Journalism and the Delacorte Center, curating an insightful series called Writerland and contributing elegant pieces of his own that take a deep look at the writing process across genres. This one, “Time and the Pearl,” is a gem. Pun intended.

“Metaphors can pluck a string within us,” his piece begins.  “Only one in 10,000 oysters will produce a natural pearl.“ Read what follows. We guarantee you will be moved and inspired.
