About

Magda Bogin. Director & Founder UTV

Founded in 2003 to identify talented writers from across the English- and Spanish-speaking worlds, Under the Volcano is a two-week international residency that convenes every January in Tepoztlán, Mexico, an hour from Mexico City in the foothills of the great volcanoes. On workshop days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday in most cases), you’ll meet with your group from 10 to 1 and then join the larger community for a copious lunch. Afternoons and evenings and the rest of the week you’re free to make the residency your own.  You’ll have all the solitude you need for your work, but you may find that
