Alicia Mares es Magíster en Creación Literaria por la Universidad Pompeu Fabra. Ha publicado tres colecciones de cuentos, Cocodrilario (Horror Vacui, 2022), Tornasol (Ocelote, 2024), Helado de flor de cempasúchil (La Tinta del Silencio, 2025) y un poemario, Mudanzas a castillos de arena (Valparaíso Ediciones, 2024). Ha sido becaria del FONCA (2022-2023) y del PECDA Tlaxcala. Resultó finalista del XXXV Premio Ana María Matute de Narrativa de Mujeres. Este año fue galardonada con el II Premio Nacional de Literatura Fantástica de la Universidad de Sonora y el XLI Premio Nacional de Cuento Fantástico y de Ciencia Ficción. Tiene siete gatos y sueña con hablar chino mandarín fluido.
Alicia Mares has an MA in Literary Creation from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona. She is the author of three short-story collections, Cocodrilario (Horror Vacui, 2022), Tornasol (Editorial Ocelote, 2024), and Helado de flor de Cempasúchil (La Tinta del Silencio, 2025) and a poetry collection, Mudanzas a castillos de arena (Valparaíso Ediciones, 2024). She has earned two writing grants for Mexican artists: FONCA 2022-2023, and PECDA 2024-2025. She was also a finalist in the 35th Ana María Matute Narrativa de Mujeres Literary Prize. This year she was awarded Sonora’s 2nd Fantasy Literature National Prize and Puebla’s 45th Fantasy & Sci-Fi Short Story National Literary Prize. She has seven cats and hopes someday to speak fluent Mandarin Chinese.
