Fiction with Ayşegül Savaş
I am a fiction writer and cultural scholar. My writing has been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and the Latinx Project’s Intervenxions, among other venues. I’m an alumna of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the recipient of numerous awards, including a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans and the Taylor-Chehak Prize in Fiction. I am currently a PhD student in English at the University of Pennsylvania, where my research focuses on brownness in hemispheric American literatures. I live in Philadelphia, where I can often be found tending to my terrariums.
Soy escritora de ficción e investigadora cultural. Mis escritos han sido publicados en el San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Review of Books y en Intervenxions de The Latinx Project, entre otros. Soy egresada del Taller de Escritores de la Universidad de Iowa y he recibido numerosos premios, entre ellos la beca Paul & Daisy Soros para Nuevos Estadounidenses y el Premio Taylor-Chehak de Ficción. Actualmente curso un doctorado en Literatura Inglesa en la Universidad de Pensilvania, donde mi investigación se centra en “brownness” en las literaturas estadounidenses del hemisferio sur. Vivo en Filadelfia, donde suelo dedicarme al cuidado de sus terrarios.
