Carina del Valle Schorske (UTV 2019) recently won a National Magazine Award for her essay “Bodies on the Line,” a cover story for New York Times Magazine about the relationship between collective grief and the collective ecstasy of the dance floor. Her debut essay collection, The Other Island, also won a Whiting Nonfiction Grant and is forthcoming from Riverhead.
