Born in Mexico City in 1949, was a renowned poet with a body of work that earned him all the major literary prizes of Mexico and then some, including the Carlos Pellicer, the Xavier Villaurrutia and, most recently, el Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes and the Premio FIL de Literatura en Lenguas Romances. He held a chair in Spanish Language Poetry at the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México and also taught under the auspices of the Fundación Octavio Paz.   He lived in Mexico City with his wife, the writer Verónica Murguía.

We deeply mourn his sudden in October 2022. We cherish many beautiful memories of the times we shared with him in Tepoztlán.
