The Bones of a Story & More

Sabrina Orah Mark

In this workshop, we will not only consider the bones of a story (plot, character, setting, dialogue, et cetera), but we will also consider its nerves and shadows, its holes and its light, its crevices and fog. We will use this time together to strengthen your story’s arc, while unearthing the secrets your plot(s) might be keeping from itself. Is there another center hiding behind the center of your story? What is missing, and is it possible what’s missing belongs? Open to writers of both short stories and novels. You will receive a close reading of your work-in-progress with feedback from me and your peers. At the end of workshop, you will also leave with a personal reading list to keep you company as you continue on.
