Fiction with Aysegül Savas
I am a writer living in Los Angeles. My work has appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, T Magazine, MUBI notebook, and Michigan Quarterly Review. I have an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis, where I won the Carrie Scott Galt Writer’s award. Other accolades include being shortlisted for the Disquiet Literary Prize, long listed for the Ploughshares Emerging Writer’s Contest, and a semi-finalist for the Fine Arts Work Fellowship. I have received support from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Disquiet International Conference, Tin House, and NY State Summer Writing Institute. My fiction is interested in the narcissism of suffering and the complexity of familial relationships. I’m currently writing a novel and a short story collection. In the past, I’ve worked at a small press, on a farm, in a restaurant, and as a tutor. I love swimming, especially in lakes.
