The Argentine writer Luisa Valenzuela has published more than twenty books, including novels, short story collections and essays, many of them translated into English. Among her most recent titles are La travesía, El Mañana, Cuidado con el tigre, La máscara sarda and El profundo secreto de Perón. She has been a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and was named an Illustrious Citizen of Buenos Aires, among many other honors. In 2016 she received the Gran Premio de Honor of the Argentine Society of Writers and most recently gave keynote speeches at the Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires and the Fiesta del Libro y La Rosa at the Universidad Autónoma de México, was awarded the prestigious León de Greiff prize for lifetime achievement in letters by a jury headed by Jorge Volpi and was made doctor in honoris causa by the Universidad de San Martín in Buenos Aires. In addition to her prolific work as a writer and frequent panelist on the international literary scene, Valenzuela is currently president of PEN Argentina.
